Uganda

Uganda is a land of lush hills, misty forests, and warm smiles. It’s where mountain gorillas roam freely, waterfalls thunder through green valleys, and lakes shimmer beneath endless skies.

Uganda's Must-Sees

Carefully hand-picked to capture the heart of Uganda

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

A lush mountain rainforest in southwestern Uganda and UNESCO World Heritage site that shelters roughly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Bwindi offers one of Africa’s ultimate wildlife encounters: guided gorilla trekking to see these gentle giants up close

Murchison
Falls Park

Uganda’s largest national park, bisected by the Nile River. It’s famed for the thunderous Murchison Falls, where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge, and for its rich wildlife – lions, elephants, giraffes – best seen on game drives and boat safaris along the Nile.

Rwenzori
Mountains

A rugged range along the Congo border boasting snow-capped peaks and glaciers at the Equator. The park offers challenging high-altitude treks through alpine forests, lakes, and icefields – a paradise for avid hikers and one of Africa’s most striking mountain landscapes.

Kibale National Park

A dense tropical rainforest regarded as Africa’s top primate destination. Kibale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees (the highest density in Uganda) and 12 other primate species, offering unrivaled chimpanzee tracking hikes where you can observe our lively cousins in their natural habitat.

Lake Bunyonyi

Often called the “Switzerland of Africa,” Lake Bunyonyi is a serene highland lake dotted with 29 green islands and surrounded by terraced hills. It’s the deepest lake in Uganda and a scenic retreat for canoeing, hiking to viewpoint peaks, bird watching, and soaking in the tranquil beauty of its misty mornings.

The River Nile

The River Nile, Africa’s longest river, begins its journey in Uganda at Jinja, a destination known for both adventure and beauty. Its powerful waters create the perfect setting for white-water rafting, kayaking, and river cruises, while nearby landscapes offer peaceful views and a connection to the heart of Africa.

Planning Your Journey Through Uganda

What is the best time to travel?

The best time to visit Uganda is during the dry seasons from June to August and December to February. Trails are easier to navigate, and wildlife viewing, especially gorilla trekking, is at its best. The green season from March to Mayalso offers lush scenery and fewer visitors for those who prefer quieter travel.

What you should pack?

Pack lightweight, breathable clothing for warm days and a light jacket for cool mornings in the highlands. If you plan to go gorilla trekking, bring sturdy hiking boots, long trousers, and a rain jacket. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a good camera are essentials for every trip.

What is the ideal duration of stay?

A 7 to 10-day trip allows time to explore Uganda’s top highlights from gorilla trekking in Bwindi and wildlife safaris in Queen Elizabeth National Park to river adventures in Jinja. Add a few extra days if you want to relax by Lake Bunyonyi or explore more cultural experiences.

What are the required travel documents?

Visitors need a valid passport with at least six months’ validity and a Ugandan eVisa, which can be applied for online before arrival. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for entry, and travel insurance is recommended for all adventurers.

Plan With Nala

Some questions, some answers

How involved will I be in planning my trip?

As much or as little as you’d like. We start with a conversation about what excites you about your upcoming trip from wildlife, culture, relaxation, or a mix of all. From there, we shape the journey together and handle every detail until it feels exactly right.

Are the experiences private or group-based?

Most of our safaris and escapes are fully private, designed around your schedule and preferences. For travelers who enjoy company, we can arrange small group options that still keep comfort and space a priority.

Do you handle flights and transfers too?

Yes, we can take care of everything from domestic flights and airport pickups to private transfers between lodges. If you’d prefer to arrange your international flights yourself, that’s completely fine too.

What level of accommodation should I expect?

We work with handpicked lodges, boutique camps, and private villas that balance comfort with character. Whether you prefer barefoot luxury or classic safari elegance, we match the stay to the atmosphere you want.

What’s the best time of year to visit?

It depends on what you want to experience. The Great Migration happens from June to October, while Zanzibar is perfect year-round. If you share your interests, we’ll guide you toward the best season for your ideal trip.

Can you arrange special experiences or requests?

Absolutely. Hot air balloon rides, private bush dinners, photography safaris, cultural visits — we love making special requests happen. If there’s something specific you’ve dreamed of, just let us know and we’ll make it part of your journey.
